Information about the association
The Israeli Geographical Association is the professional association of geographers in Israel. The members of the association are engaged in all areas of human and physical geography. The Geographical Association has been working since 1959 to promote and diversify Israeli geography in Israel and around the world. The Israeli Geographic Association is a member of the International Association of Geography (IGU).
The association is a non-profit institution and it operates according to democratic principles. The association is headed by a council and a president, who are elected once every two years and constitute a supreme authority. Among the association's presidents in the past were Israel Prize laureates: Prof. David Amiran, Prof. Dov Nir, Prof. Moshe Brawer and Prof. Aryeh Shachar.

Prof. Nurit Alfasi is an associate professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Development at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the head of the urban planning department.
